Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a skills-based therapeutic model which helps us understand how our thoughts, emotions, physical responses, and behaviors are interconnected and affect each other. It blends evidence-based mental health treatment principles with traditional Buddhist concepts and practices. DBT helps people learn to manage their emotional responses, change problematic behavioral patterns, and improve their communication skills and relationships.
Mindfulness is a core concept within DBT. It includes effective skills for decreasing judgmental thinking, emotional reactivity, and avoidant behaviors. People who practice mindfulness skills experience lower anxiety, improved mood, increased self-compassion, and fewer unhelpful behavioral responses.)
